I keep having the same weird dreams, about working at Mermaid Lounge, and all these vague and weird things happen.
I sent some requests for information. I think I'm going to take another jab at art school after this year at Valley. I'll have a strong enough portfolio by then that perhaps I can actually get some scholarships.
I requested information from Pratt in New York. I hear they're a very good school, although I am skeptical of how much aid I can get through them.
I also requested information from artic (Chicago school of the art institute). Rob used to have a friend that had no money of which to speak and was able to pay her entire tuition there via financial aid, so I figure that I may as well give it a shot. They seem to have a fair amount of grants and scholarships, from the information I saw on their website. I figure it couldn't hurt to apply.
Then I also requested some information from Illinois Institute for the Arts. They called me right back with an answer to one of my questions, and said they'd send me some information and would call me when that arrives to discuss it further.
Well, that's good. I figure between the three of those schools, I should be able to find at least one that gives me a decent amount of financial aid.
So I have been thinking a lot about Lynch's whole thing with Americana. In our quest to live in Twin Peaks annex, we missed the point. I don't think Lynch was actually marvelling at it, but making a commentary on how screwy things are among "good country folk". People are evil, pure and simple, but while the evil that men do may be all out in the open in the big city, in a small town where everyone knows everyone, it's very insidious. It becomes the secret that everyone knows but no one wants to admit. Hence, how Albert comes in and sneers at these "good country folk" who have a brutally murdered coke addict prom queen on their hands.
Well, I think I will take the obvious danger of the city over the insidious danger of the small town, thanks
