Why is it that no college in Michigan can put together a decent website? It seems like every one I look at is rife with errors, bad links and inadequate information.
The internet is where most people go to research that stuff, and god knows that most schools don't send out adequate information to help make an informed decision. Most folks seem to use online information as their first resource in deciding whether to investigate further. A school that has half their links leading to 404s, or accidentally linking back to the page you're already on hardly makes a positive impression.
I think it's a lazy person conspiracy.
See, most Michigan schools are primarily in state. Since all the websites suck, they don't have to worry about deterring students.
Don't believe me? Well guess what, Michigan's big on unions.
Hah! So there.
Unions and government jobs are all about conspiracies to cut down on work.
It's like Kalamazoo. They just pretend to be dull and confused, because if you thought they were bright, you'd expect more from them.
I'm convinced of this.
Anyhow, in other news, I guess I won't be dancing when we go to Detroit.
I was going to dance just until I found something else, but then I learned some not so great news about the clubs there.
Apparently in Detroit, and in most of its suburbs, there's a permit law for dancers. That means that you go to the police station, fill out a request for a permit and pay a fee. That also means they run a background check, fingerprint you, take your picture and put the permit in the records.
What that means, aside from having to pay the processing fee, is that your job is a matter of public record. It means that anyone who does a background check can find out that you applied for an adult entertainer. This includes prospective employers (banks, retail stores, etcetera) who would most likely not be too thrilled about such a thing.
So, so much for that idea.
It sucks. I was thinking that would be a good fallback.
Well, on the bright side, Rob has an interview coming up. A consulting firm told him that they would like to do an in depth telephone interview right after the holidays, so that's something.
I guess I'll just look at waitressing or retail work. There's a huge mall really close to our place, and there's a zillion bars in Detroit. At least one of them has got to want someone to serve drinks...
