Well, it's been a busy week.
After celebrating my birthday at the Boulevard, we got up early and headed into Kalamazoo to sign the lease. As we rode in the car I started speculating on my latest of ideas. I've been thinking a lot about the animation industry and how I don't like the aspect of whoring oneself which seems to come along with doing anything entertainment related. Then I thought about how cool it would be to get an animation studio of my own, oriented toward making b movie type cartoons. There needs to be more of a realization in American animation that not all animated film is a kid movie or needs to have a very light, "cutesy" storyline. I could easily back it up by having it share a space with a swank lounge. So with these thoughts in mind, we made the trek to Kalamazoo.
It took awhile just to get out of chicago and through the god awful south shore burbs. We did get to Michigan City though, and grabbed breakfast before finishing the ride to Kalamazoo. Wow, as much as I liked the town visiting over the winter, it was even better with it being spring. The streets were filled with people and everything looked really pretty. It's amazing how much more you notice when you don't have this wintry gray haze over everything.
We got to the apartment complex and signed the lease. We then went to our apartment. Wow, it was absolutely gorgeous. It was just amazing. I mean we were impressed when we looked at it the first time but there's something about knowing that it's *yours* that really makes a difference. We planned out what we'd use each room for and lounged on the balcony and watched the view. We then went to target, which seemed a bit like sorority girl shopping day, and went to fourth coast to meet n8 and bekka. We hung out there for a bit and talked to them for awhile, then went back to the apartment to drop the stuff off that we'd bought. Then, we grabbed a quick bite to eat before heading back.
I'm really excited about the move. I already sent out a couple of resumes for jobs there. I've got permission to take Flash my first semester so I'm mighty excited about school. I spent a lot of today packing, too. We're taking a load of stuff tuesday then the rest over the weekend.
Kalamazoo, sounds like fun...
