So I am officially thirty today.

I just got back from Detroit. Rob and I had to go on emergency family business. I had a bit of a cold when we left, and the travelling exacerbated it.

I was sick but relatively energetic the first day. We went to TCBY to say hello to Rob's cousin and got supplied with some tasty ice cream. Rob's grandma teased me about gaining weight and then, in typical Italian fashion, kept trying to get me to eat more. Ah well, I'll have a work out room soon.

The next day I felt really sick. I felt awful and slept off and on all day. I went to sleep early and hoped to feel better the next day.

The next day I felt like death on a stick. There was a family obligation but both Rob and his mom told me to stay home in bed. So I slept for hours. I woke up long enough to eat a bagel and watch a few hours of television then slept for the rest of the night.

The next day I got up early and we got ready to get back on the road. We stopped in Ypsilanti for gas. I went to use the bathroom. On the way in, I passed a crackhead who was very enchanted with my ryo ohki backpack.

"What's your baby's name?" He asked.

"What?" I asked, baffled.

"Your baby. On your back."

"Oh, ryo ohki" I said.

He came around and pet my backpack.

"Take care of your baby, all right?" He said, and staggered on away.

The rest of the ride was without incident, until we got to Michigan City. We stopped at Red Lobster. The woman was baffled by my vegetarian request. The alfredo sauce was too spicy on the first dish I ordered so I sent it back. The second dish was better, at least tolerable for on the road food, but my stomach was a bit upset from the little bit I tried to eat of the first dish, so I just got the rest to go.

After trudging through rush hour traffic, we made it home. We were both really tired, so we went to sleep early.

These next few weeks are going to be so busy. We go to sign the lease tomorrow, then rob's cousin is coming to visit wednesday, then we move the following saturday. But hey, at least my Chicago days are numbered.
